Landship main hull complete

Well. Nearly complete!!
Just pictures this time.
And a scale comparison. I'm painting my mananns blades in the same scheme as my landship and crew so they can have their own detachment with a touch of altdorf.

Landship destruction!

That's right. The weathering begins!! Lots of research into verdigris has forced my hand to drastic measures! I've painted it digitally before, but over a fully painted model is hard.
So my formula for this is very simple.

Over a base of runelord brass washed with Agrax earthshade pick out the edges, and around a few choice bolts and points of interest, paint pure heavy temple guard blue.
Then.
Two parts temple guard blue to one part nurgling green to 1part clean water paint it all. The thinner the better, make it like a watered down ink. And you should get something like this!!

Landship phase 3

I'm loving painting this beast. You can do no wrong. Usually something your experimenting on with colours you haven't worked with before looks quite out of place. But because of the size of the thing it forces your colours to work. A proper photoshoot once I put it together but for now here is my progress. And my dog who has taken to wearing my hat.

Theodore Bruckner photoshoot

So here he is looking all shiney! and pictures taken with something better than an iphone!
you lucky people. im planning the base as my first use of water! temple ruins and stuff. he is massive however. very difficult to fit him into a unit without him looking like hes from a completely different system. so what im thinking is to put dead stuff around him, an ork and limbs and stuff.

Theodore Bruckner: - how to paint black armour!

A mission. I looked up loads of reference, loads of tutorials and went to a museum to see Henry VIIIs jousting armour.

In the end I came up with my own palette. And it goes something like this. Please keep in mind I have lots still to do on this mini.

1: black undercoat.
2: leadbelcher heavy drybrush
3: Asurmen blue wash heavy
4: nuln oil wash light focusing on crevices
5: kill yourself picking out the highlights of the armour in Gehenna's Gold. Avoid dry brushing this. This should look like a very delicate highlight.

And you should have something that looks like this!

My first commission!

A D&D character for a friend of mine. I was paid in paint. I still now consider myself a professional model painter now though lol

Freehand cheetah skin painting

The title is pretty self explanatory. So here it is! And my first attempt at blending on the sword! (To see a master do this check out Gareth's work over at www.taleofpainters.blogspot.com)

Anyway. The updated capt manann!

Landship phase 2

I'm going to prepare this beast! But not painting until I've finished my 23 swordsmen. My Manns blades! Super nautical theme detachment!

Anyway. The landship. A roughly shaped ship of resin. That's about as hard to construct as an ACTUAL ship.
Leaving my swordsmen to soke I heated some water and roughly bent the ship to fit. Covered the fucker in glue and wrapped it in elastic bands. There are still gaps but I'm going to fill it with greenstuff and sculpt in some seaweed! Winners!

As you can see I've also started some greenstuff filigree to decorate the hull of the ship. Make little gold gargoyles from spare heads. If it doesn't look awesome ill scrap that part.

What have I done!! The landship ... Lands

I stopped cleaning the seams when I jabbed myself in the leg with my scalpel. A part of me thinks it might be my body telling me to take this one slow.

Needless to say ill be blogging every harrowing step of the way.

Finished gun line!

Finally fully finished unit & painted movement base! They were looking a bit samey so I've added carved some personal symbols on some of the guns.
