Van Saar:The dust gate orb weavers pt1

The Orb Weavers are a unique and strange gang. Sent down to the edges of the hive bottom to intercept incoming ash storms with intricate webs of nano molecular magnets to collect, what house Van Saar suspect, are nano-bots. Spread across the ash wastes and slowly converging back on the Hive. Some sort of self repair program that will fix all their ailing STC.

But for the last 7 years all they have got is rad sick, a particularly high tolerance to standing in sand, and into the habit of wearing their camo cloaks and rebreathers everywhere. It's slowly dawning on the Orb Weavers that maybe they were sent down into the depths for a different reason.

Just two finished so far, but more on the way!

The Lowthian Bells: Finished

 Thats all 10 members complete!
What a joy to paint! So lets take a closer look at my toys!

Marie Hardheart: Princess of the wastes and the driving force of the Lowthian Bells. Like all of the Bells her hair was bleached bright white by the toxic exposure although unlike others of the household she declined to dye it again.

Wargear:
Chainsword
Bolter/needle rifle
chem grenades
stiletto

Mary Kingslayer: Armed with twin plasma pistols found in a container deep in the wastes Mary has always been one to take risks, almost impossible to give orders to. She can usually be found 40 feet from the battle smoking slightly.. and giggling to herself after one of her horribly unstable weapons misfires.

Wargear:
Plasma Pistols x2
chem granades
stiletto knife
respirator

Freya Star: A crack shot with her old reliable lasgun, She kept the gang alive while in the wastes by picking off the carrion birds and rats at hundreds of yards to feast on.

Wargear:
Lasgun
Stiletto
Respirator
Frag grenades

Ida Lau: Never the best shot in the gang Ida does have the fastest draw. Her auto pistol appears as if from nowhere ... and usually misses. But while her opponent is diving for cover there's always her trusty knife at hand.

Wargear:
Auto-pistol
Stiletto
Chem grenades

Eva Ashström: The Bells avoid Eva while back at their hideout, some say their long stay in the ash wastes have turned her to the wyrd. Painting her face and adorning her weapons and clothes with skulls she names and talks to during the night cycles.

Wargear:
Auto-gun
Stiletto
Grenades

Shar: Hard drinking and hearty laughing, Shar is the life and soul of the gang. Gifted with "The Twins" her auto-pistols when she initiated into the gang proper, shes never happier than when shes turning rivals into red mist.

Wargear:
Auto-Pistols x2
Stiletto
Granades

A'Meir: Foregoing any projectile weapons A'meir stalks the pipes and sewers around the gangs bar. A look of surprise is often found on the severed heads she brings back to adorn her living quarters.

Wargear:
Power swords x 2
Granades

Sara "the Surgeon" Sanmasdottier: It won't be clean and it wont be quiet. After losing an eye Sara switched her lasgun for the angriest loudest thing she could find. And it works.

Wargear:
Shotgun
Frag grenades

Maz Curie: an expert in all things toxic and deadly. Not great company but just the kind of person you want on your side in a gang war. Maybe don't shake her hand either. after years of using her chem-thrower there isn't much about her that isn't highly toxic. Although she has been talking about swapping out ol'faithful for something heavier... and louder.

Wargear:
chem-thrower
respirator

Cassy Lovelace: A ganger through and through. Spending her creds on upgrading her gear, booze, and boys.

Wargear:
Lasgun
Stiletto
Granades

The Lowthian Bells Pt I

Endless waves of bleached grey ash spread across the surface of Necromunda. Hundreds of kilometres of toxic desert separate each desperate settlement in this barren land.

Out of this brutal environment stalk the Lowthian Bells. Once an enforcer crew of house Escher under the name of the Neon Valkyries, fourty strong, they were sent to an ash wastes settlement to solve a couple of “issues” with the Scavvies disrupting the flow of toxins that grow under the radioactive clouds that surround the hive. But once out on their own a storm made it impossible for them to re-enter the hive proper. Thought dead by their house, and their turf divvied up between the Goliaths of the Jagged Aggressors and the Orlocks their name was soon forgotten.

It was two years before the storm subsided enough to have the Southern gates reopened. Usually a time of great jubilation in a hive sector as family’s are reunited or travelers return with tales and treasures. This time was different. Ten white haired and leather clad women strode through the gates that day ahead of the traders and dross from the wastes. None from outside the gates would talk of what these ten had done. What horrors they had inflicted. Or what they planned next.

The Wangs of Fortune!

I'm not a gamer. I love me some Blood Bowl, but 40k and the rest just end up freaking me out with the constant litany of rules and remembering things. Top it all off with remembering wounds for your 50 tanks. You're going to have a bad time. That's why my very good friend Monk has the ideal present for you. His kickstarter has already reached its goal, but you haven't secured yourself one yet. A simple device for keeping track of wounds! Genius. I present ... THE WOUND-WANG!

Image 371897 original

Portable, simple, cheap as expensive London chips, and comes in all the colours of the rainbow (as well as black because everyone wants black).
Back the project here and get a pack-o-wangs in the post.

I've seen them in action, and not only do you get to say wang a lot, but they're incredibly useful.
Hopefully get to post some painting stuff soon, but the heat is a bugger for killing the motivation to paint.
Happy painting all!

NMM week 2.3

Right. I'm putting down the first sister of silence! Amazingly fun models to paint, but I've made some mistakes that would simply be too hard to come back from. Using an old can of Testors to undercoat to start with! I may as well have used a trowel. Just destroyed a lot of details and edges that would have been useful to paint with. Seems a shame to chuck this model, but I'll stick it in some cleaning fluid over night and see what I'm left with and if it's salvageable.
But this is how it ended up.

Not too bad for my first concerted effort on a character.
Happy painting all! Next up is a full Custode in shining gold.

NMM week 2

My love of learning NMM and struggle with NMM-Gold continues in week 2!
After picking up the burning of prospero kit at the weekend, I immediately assembled a sister of silence and started painting.

I have loved the thought of the sisters of silence since John Blanche illustrated them ages ago. And now they fall into my lap just as I'm learning a technique that will compliment them perfectly?! The fates have been kind.
Happy painting!
